Journalist arrested in NCR

Journalist Vinod Verma, formerly with the BBC and with Amar Ujala, was picked up from his home in the early hours of 27th October by the Chhattisgarh police (in plain clothes) and UP police and taken to the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. The have seized his laptop on suspicion of extortion according to a journalist present at the police station, where several scribes have gathered. Varma has homes both in Delhi-NCR and in Raipur. No FIR had been registered at the time of writing.  He is believed to be in possession of a CD implicating a Chhattisgarh minister.
