Letter to the Hoot: unpaid contributor

Do I conclude that the Statesman is a charity to which the affluent writers donate pieces of writing?

Dear editor,

Between 6 September 2002 (483 days ago today) and 6 March 2003 (302 days ago today), the Statesman newspaper of New Delhi published six articles and stories of mine. On 12 November 2003 I answered a letter from its Resident Editor, Saubhik Chakrabarti, which he had taken months to get around to sending, asking that I should be paid what they wished - although that was at a rate less than half that of other newspapers` - but quickly. On 16 December 2003 I sent this person a reminder; but I have still not been paid. Do I conclude that the Statesman is a charity to which affluent writers donate pieces of writing?
