Map trouble

IN Media Watch Briefs | 22/05/2011
The Indian Customs held up distribution of the May 21 issue of The Economist for featuring a map showing the "current effective border" between India and Pakistan, requiring it to "show only its territorial claims" according to an email from the publishers to all Indian subscribers. The issue carries a cover story on the border dispute between the two countries. However, subscribers can see and read it on the website, disputed map and all. Indian authorities have asked that the map be obscured before distribution.
