Media obsessed with IS?

IN Media Watch Briefs | 29/07/2016

The news story of an Indigo flight from Dubai to Kozhikode making an emergency landing in Mumbai following the unusual behavior of a passenger,  shows how IS-obsessed our media are. Many immediately declared that the passenger shouted pro-IS slogans. But reports were corrected later and some even regretted. The Hindu, for example, at the bottom of its corrected story, said “An earlier version of this article stated that the passenger was removed from the plane for shouting pro-IS slogans. The error is regretted.” However, even after the airport officials denied reports that the passenger raised any pro-ISIS slogan, some media including India Today still have  misleading and factually baseless reports online.
