There has been precious little mainstream media focus on the smaller parties that have made a difference to the outcome of these elections. On the AIUDF, which has overtaken the AGP as the principal opposition party in Assam, on the All India NR Congress, a breakaway from the Congress formed just on the eve of the polls, which emerged victorious in Puducherry, and on the DMDK which now becomes the principal opposition party in Tamilnadu. They are mentioned, but their influence is not explained enough.
