Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly address to the nation on All India Radio, brought the public broadcaster gross revenue to the tune of Rs 4.78 crore from advertisements during 2015-16. Quoting the minister for information and broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore, a Hindustan Times report said that only the broadcast on All India Radio had been monetised -- and not other platforms like web portals or app based services on which it was live-streamed. A survey carried out by the audience research unit of the AIR directorate general recently found that 446 million people had been exposed to Mann ki Baat. Evidently, what the PM says has value in more ways than one.
