The BJP permitted FDI in news when Sushma Swaraj was I & B minister in A B Vajpayee's government. Now if minister of state Rajyavardhan Rathore is to be believed the government is considering increasing the amount of FDI permitted in news. He said this after an industry rep at a CII event explained that channels were too hard up to give better news. It is of course another matter that the real reason for channels being hard up is because there are far too many of them in the game.
