Not a big deal, really…

“Media sensitivity” lately has a different meaning for some politicians. Maharashtra’s industries minister Narayan Rane has spoken harshly against the media for reportedly turning his “minor” defeat in the municipal council elections into a “major” news event. “I lost five seats in Vengurla, but the way the media portrayed it was as if I had lost a Lok Sabha seat,” he said. Rane says other parties lost by a much wider margin. Is the media being disproportionate in its coverage, or do some politicians need thicker skin?
