Not snubbed

IN Media Watch Briefs | 19/06/2012

A reader writes: quite a few headlines are saying that former President APJ Abdul Kalam "snubbed" Mamata Banerjee on her (plus Mulayam Singh) proposal to put him up as next Presidential candidate. Let some fairness prevail in headlining. A person doesnt "snub" if he spends days (in consultation with confidants) mulling over the matter, and the  decision not to contest is his own. Please note he made it clear he was overwhelmed by and grateful for the response that the proposal for his election had evoked. Maybe headline writers need to go back to school to learn the meaning of words.
