This week CNN News18 has been doing a series on the impact of demonetization. While listing the pros and cons of the move one of the points read : "The common man in India has learnt to live on Rs 24,000 per week." Really? Are they so out of touch with reality that they think that the 'common man' lives on around Rs 1 lakh a month? The Indian reality is that an estimated 600 million Indians live on Rs 2000 per head per month (according to latest available income figures). And the latest research shows that one per cent of Indians own 58 per cent of India's wealth.
