Pak lifts ban on IT

IN Media Watch Briefs | 16/09/2016

Pakistan had blocked the India Today website earlier this week after a recent issue of the news magazine carried a picture of Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif with a photoshopped slap mark on his face. The picture, which appeared on the cover of the September 5 issue of India Today with the headline ‘India Gets Tough’, was always going to outrage Pakistanis. However, on Friday India Today Group Editor Raj Chengappa tweeted; “Reports now say ban on India Today website lifted”. It appears that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had been directed to block the India Today website in the country after a Lahore court asked a petitioner to take up the matter with the government, reports The Indian Express.
