There have been 21 cases of attacks on journalists and their property so far this year in India and one case of hostage taking. These have taken place in Odisha, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, UP, Delhi, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Karnataka, Assam and Maharashtra. Six cases of threats including three against TV anchors have also been recorded. One journalist was killed in Uttar Pradesh.
