It is interesting to compare the one- column sanitised report that the Hindustan Times carried on May 1 of Rahul Gandhi's return to UP after the Assembly election results came in, with the account in Mail Today. The latter had a colourful version of the flak the MP for Amethi got from party workers. One asked him if he could name five party workers in the place he was visiting. He could not. MT said much else in its account. HT said nothing to convey that any plain speaking was done on the occasion.
