Rustication or not?

IN Media Watch Briefs | 16/03/2016
So was Kanhaiya Kumar's rustication recommended by the JNU panel or not? The TOI's page one headline said `JNU panel for expulsion of Kanhaiya, five others', as did Hindustan Times'. But The Hindu headline mentioned only two students. The copy said the rustication of Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya was to be ``for a certain period'', while Kanhaiya could face a fine. All three papers cited ``sources''. The Telegraph said notices had been sent to 21 students, and five of them, including Kanhaiya, could be rusticated for the rest of the current semester. The paper quoted both ``sources'' and PTI. None of the papers bothered to quote Kanhaiya. While the Telegraph quoted some of the affected students, the TOI quoted only the ABVP's Saurabh Sharma, joint secretary of the JNUSU, by name.
