Scribe killed in Kanpur

IN Media Watch Briefs | 01/12/2017

Naveen Gupta, a contributor with Hindi daily Hindustan, was shot dead by unidentified persons near the Nagar Palika market in Billhaur, about 60 km from Kanpur, on Nov 30, 2017. While it is as yet unclear whether this is related to his journalism, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe even as the Kanpur Press Club protested the killing. This is the 10th death of a journalist this year, six of which have been confirmed for professional reasons.
