The Hindu carried an expose on the use of advertisements as news, paid news, in its editions of November 29, 2009 at two levels: one citing how Ashok Chavan, Maharashtra Chief Minister fudged his accounts and another on how newspapers ran a scandalous business of coverage packages for elections. The next day the other newspapers reported only extracts from P Sainath¿s reportage confined to the Chavan angle and ignored the media malaise. Is it the silence of the guilty?
