It is always the media that gets blamed for "misconstruing facts", "not putting things in context", etc, etc, and the latest to join that bandwagon are Khap Panchayats. Representatives of the Khaps from various States at a meeting in Delhi recently affirmed that they have been "demonised" by the media, for being responsible for "honour killings". "Journalists don't even get Parliament reporting right, therefore it is not surprising that they don't understand the Khaps Panchayats and have turned us into Taliban," they quipped.
