Spectre?
The Hindu reported how in Tamil Nadu's local body elections underway, 'paid news' was happening, quoting some tariffs for coverage by papers. It says it is widespread but despite its significance, carried the item only in the Tamil Nadu Friday editions when it is a national issue. The paper curiously headlined it 'spectre' - dictionary says it means a ghostly appearance, an apparition, a prospect, lightening the import of the story.
