Now that Star has won the global television and digital rights for the Indian Premier League for the period 2018 to 2022, for a humongous Rs 16,347.5 crore, what happens to Dish TV's complaint to the Competition Commission of India? The DTH broadcaster had objected to Star participating in a bid for IPL with the rather original logic that to bid for yet another cricket property was to monopolise broadcast rights! Its a free market surely, and the Zee Group can destroy the monopoly by outbidding Star, so why doesn't it?
