Swachhta on TV

IN Media Watch Briefs | 02/10/2016

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and the second anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching his Swachh Bharat mission, NDTV held a 12-hour “Cleanathon” on October 2 to clean up 10 iconic places in India, including Varanasi, Puri and the area around the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. Anchored by Vikram Chandra and actor Amitabh Bachchan, the Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India campaign played out all over the country and saw participation from a host of politicians and celebrities. But NDTV was not the only TV channel falling over itself to champion the Prime Minister's noble mission. India Today TV too celebrated Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas by giving out its “Safaigiri” Awards. Clean is indeed in.
