The Indian Express's 2016 pullout on the 100 most powerful Indians does not explain either the criteria or the methodology adopted by the paper in making its selection. It does not explain why those dropped from last year's list have been dropped. The latter list includes the editor-owner of  Dainik Jagran. Four people from media figure in the current list. Rajat Sharma who comes in at no. 56 is the highest ranked media person, followed by Arnab Goswami. Subhash Chandra of the Essel Group who gave Sharma his break in TV journalism is at no. 92. And Ravish Kumar of NDTV India breaks into the list for the first time at no.100.
