It had to happen. The TOI has got so fat with advertising that hawkers are protesting that it weighs too much. A printed pamphlet issued by a hawkers’ union inserted in the newspaper on November 3 said, “in recent months, we are facing some difficulties in delivering the newspaper, Times of India, due to its increasing weight... Even after several discussions about the ‘load factor’ with the TOI management, the company has turned a deaf ear towards this issue…This has compelled us to take some action to reduce the weight of this newspaper by removing the Bombay Times.”
