Sometimes what looks like an assault on press freedom turns out to have nothing to do with press freedom at all. The Nepali journalit Uma Singh whose recent murder in the Terai region caused outrage, was actually the victim of a property dispute, the police say. The Hoot had carried a story on her killing which said it was the consequence of her journalism.
