You will note that the Hindu carries nary a word critical of the Chinese government. In fact, Ram has virtually written an ode to Chinese rule last year - articles in The Hindu ("The Politics Of Tibet: A 2007 Reality Check",
Even in wikipedia, there is a point made – "The view that The Hindu does not entertain views that run contrary to its political leanings was strengthened when it refused to publish a letter by a Tibetan film-maker. The letter disputed the paper¿s editor¿s claims on

Truly, it is a National paper- but of which nation now is the question.
Here are a couple of comments from friends:
"The Hindu is getting a bit under my skin for being far too pro-left/ pro-DM K , and now pro-China! I can understand it being a liberal newspaper. I too am a liberal at heart and even if I am not leftist, I am kind of centrist in my views. Still, this is going too far. The Hindu has been my favourite newspaper only for the quality of writing until recently when it has tended to go off to the far left. I have no issues with their economic leanings or their bias to liberalism. What grates is that they tend to distort news a bit now. This was not the case earlier. Maybe I am mistaken, but all they need is a good competitor and I will go off their reader list! I read the paper for facts and in some cases opinions. However, if facts tend to get coloured, I must revise my preferences.
"Hindu is losing its credibility; as a newspaper it should give both views as well as news as reported."
Finally, Mr B Raman of the South Asia Analysis Group has called The Hindu the People’s Daily of Chennai."
