Blast coverage

IN Media Watch Briefs | 07/09/2011

Times Now once again breaking every decency norm that has been agreed upon by the self regulatory authorities.  They started beaming raw mobile footage on the Delhi High Court blast with a warning slug on top :"Viewer discretion advised" . On show were dismembered limbs, burning bodies..absolutely horrific pictures that are never shown on any television screen anywhere in the world. Is there anyone who can reign in Times Now for gross violations of  broadcasting norms that have been loosely agreed upon by all channels particularly after the Mumbai terrorist attacks ? Somebody should.

Clearly, the run to the 2019 elections is on. A journalist received a call from someone saying they were from Aajtak channel and were conducting a survey, asking whom she was going to vote for in 2019. On being told that her vote was secret, the caller assumed she wasn't going to vote for 'Modiji'. The caller, a woman, also didn't identify herself. A month or two earlier the same journalist received a call, this time from a man, asking if she was going to vote for the BSP.
