The National Media Council of UAE invited the Doordarshan correspondent  posted in Dubai to  accompany the delegation  of the  Crown Prince of  Abu Dhabi to India. He is here to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade. It also invited the correspondents of Malayalam Manorama and Mathrubhoomi. The journalist who could not accept the invitation was the DD correspondent who was denied permission by her bosses in New Delhi. This despite the fact that the national broadcaster. WAM, the official news agency of UAE government, is also set to sign an agreement with Prasar Bharati during this visit.

The new term for self censorship is voluntary censorship, as proposed by companies like Netflix and Hotstar. ET reports that streaming video service Amazon Prime is opposing a move by its peers to adopt a voluntary censorship code in anticipation of the Indian government coming up with its own rules. Amazon is resisting because it fears that it may alienate paying subscribers.

A month or two earlier the same journalist received a call, this time from a man, asking if she was going to vote for the BSP.
