Callous DD News

IN Media Watch Briefs | 25/06/2013

The crash of the IAF rescue chopper M1 17 this evening in Gaurikund was picked up immediately by the private news channels but guess who carried on as if nothing had happened-- the great public service broadcaster, Doordarshan. Even as the news was breaking on all channels- DD carried on humming its way through some programme called "Metro Scan' and showed only a super below of the crash.  At 6.30 pm when the Metro Scan ended and the news began..it had all other news except that of the chopper crash! It finally came on at 6.40 pm.

A journalist received a call from someone saying they were from Aajtak channel and were conducting a survey, asking whom she was going to vote for in 2019. On being told that her vote was secret, the caller assumed she wasn't going to vote for 'Modiji'. The caller, a woman, also didn't identify herself. A month or two earlier the same journalist received a call, this time from a man, asking if she was going to vote for the BSP.
