UP CM Akhilesh Yadav seems to think that a ride on his campaign plane was a favour to journalists which deserved a quid pro quo. At his Friday presser he said that an English TV channel dropped their interview with him on the plane because their marketing dept. didn't like it. He had its journalist's SMS as evidence. English didn't mean much to his constituency but he had obliged as there were people around the world who cared for socialism he said, adding that he had several SMSs from journalists about their compulsions regarding managements which he can make public.

Clearly, the run to the 2019 elections is on. A journalist received a call from someone saying they were from Aajtak channel and were conducting a survey, asking whom she was going to vote for in 2019. On being told that her vote was secret, the caller assumed she wasn't going to vote for 'Modiji'. The caller, a woman, also didn't identify herself. A month or two earlier the same journalist received a call, this time from a man, asking if she was going to vote for the BSP.
