IN Media Watch Briefs | 18/07/2017

The first quarter results for HT Media Ltd in FY 18 show an 85.4% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 41.55 crore, on the back of lower costs.   It shuttered seven editions earlier this year, did some retrenchment at Mint and HT, and engaged  in a complex carve-out of its content business in an effort to become leaner. Revenue dipped marginally from Rs 662.43 crore in the first quarter of 2016-17 to Rs 652.18 crore, the company said in a statement.

Clearly, the run to the 2019 elections is on. A journalist received a call from someone saying they were from Aajtak channel and were conducting a survey, asking whom she was going to vote for in 2019. On being told that her vote was secret, the caller assumed she wasn't going to vote for 'Modiji'. The caller, a woman, also didn't identify herself. A month or two earlier the same journalist received a call, this time from a man, asking if she was going to vote for the BSP.
