The Opinion Editor of Financial Express ,Sunil Jain, made some jaw-dropping statements on CNN-IBN on the Planning Commission's submission before the Supreme Court that those who have the spending capacity of Rs 34 per day ,will not qualify for BPL subsidies. He said: "We don't have blinding poverty-we have people who are not well off!" , "7.5 per cent of people in rural areas who spend that amount also own two wheelers!","The government runs free medical care for everyone so what's the problem." Then he went onto advise Colin Gonsalves not to buy his bananas from Jangpura but Sarojini Nagar market to get more out of his Rs 34!
