The nonstop relay of the Mumbai terror attacks on TV news channels increased viewer ship significantly. The TAM media research data shows Hindi channels were the biggest gainers with viewer ship jumping from 6.7 per cent to 16 per cent in week 48 as against a mere 0.4 per cent increase in the share of English news channels. Hindi business news channels grew from 0.4 per cent to 0.5 per cent, and the English ones rose from 0.31 per cent to 0.34 per cent. (Exchange for Media)
