IN Media Watch Briefs | 31/07/2013

In quite an unprecedented case since the era of contracts changed the terms of employment in news organizations, all the employees at the main publishing centre of People India in Mumbai have sought and received from the Labour Court in Mumbai relief  from being terminated. Hon. P K Chitnis granted relief to the staff including the editor, and asked the publishers, Rajan Raheja-owned Outlook Group to maintain status quo,  and directed that their services  not be terminated without due process of law. The Group shut down three franchise editons recently including People India.

A journalist received a call from someone saying they were from Aajtak channel and were conducting a survey, asking whom she was going to vote for in 2019. On being told that her vote was secret, the caller assumed she wasn't going to vote for 'Modiji'. The caller, a woman, also didn't identify herself. A month or two earlier the same journalist received a call, this time from a man, asking if she was going to vote for the BSP.
